The Departament de Didàctica de la Llengua i la Literatura, i de les Ciències Socials is largely oriented to the initial and permanent training of teachers in primary and secondary education (compulsory and postcompulsory education) on those areas that belong to the Department scope.

Its subsidised research activity is carried out through projects of the DGI, MEC, CIDE, Xarxes temàtiques de recerca, ARIE, Lingua, Comenius and Minerva EU programs and cooperation with foundations, private business and other institutions.
