Research at the Departament de Geografia de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona goes around the characteristics and the functioning of the territory from all the possible levels of study, from local level to planet level. Over one hundred people alternate teaching activities with research activities in research groups assigned to the Department.

The Departament publishes the journal Documents d’Anàlisi Geogràfica, in cooperation with the Secció de Geografia of the Universitat de Girona, which has as an objective to publicize unpublished research texts done by researches from all over the world related to geographical science and related topics.
