The Departament de Filologia Catalana of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona started its activity as an independent research unit in 1986. Since then, prominent names in the Catalan philology field such as Martí de Riquer, Josep Romeu i Figueras, Lola Badia, Joaquim Molas or Josep Maria Nadal have been part of the Department team.
