In the academic year 1968-1969 psychology studies are launched in the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. The Faculty of Psychology is created by law in 1989 (Decret 277/1989, de 10 de novembre (DOG 24/11/89)). The academic year 1997-1998 means the start of the speech-therapy studies organized by the Faculty of Psychology that lead to the Diploma in Speech Therapy.

The Faculty comprises four Departments: Departamento de Psicología Básica, Evolutiva i de la Educación, Departamento de Psicobiología i de Metodología de las Ciencias de la Salud, Departamento de Psicología Clínica i de la Salud y Departamento de Psicología Social.
