Es sabido que el siglo XIX ha constituido, para Y. Bonnefoy, un mástil fundamental: especialmente los poetas Nerval, Baudelaire, Rimbaud y Mallarmé, a quienes a dedicados numerosos artículos y libros.El objetivo de este artículo es analizar un estudio publicado por Bonnefoy, en 2001 (es decir cuando tiene ya casi ochenta años, al final de una vida plena) y que constituye una síntesis de su reflexión sobre la poesía del siglo XIX. Allí propone o bien una rectificación o bien una reafirmación de lo que, para el poeta de Tours, es lo “esencial” del siglo XIX. Seguidamentese intentará investigarlo.

It is well known that the 19th century has been,for Y. Bonnefoy, an essential pole: above all thepoets Nerval, Baudelaire, Rimbaud and Mallarmé, to whom he has dedicated a lot of articlesand books. The aim of this article is to analysea work published by Bonnefoy in 2001 (that isto say when he was nearly eighty years old, atthe end of a fulfilling life) which is a summaryof his reflections on the poetry of the 19th century. There he proposes either a correction or a reaffirmation of what, for the poet of Tours, isthe “essence” of the 19th century. Now we willtry to analyse it.
