Abstract:

A 48-year-old man with alcoholic liver cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy was found to have a large, spontaneous mesocaval shunt. The shunt was successfully occluded with the use of an Amplatzer Vascular Plug. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the use of this device to embolize a mesocaval shunt involving the superior mesenteric vein. |

Un home de 48 anys amb cirrosi hepàtica alcohòlica i encefalopatia hepàtica va ser diagnosticat de voluminós shunt mesocava espontani. El shunt va ser embolitzat amb èxit utilitzant el dispositiu endovascular “Amplatzer Vascular Plug”. Pel que nosaltres coneixem, aquest és el primer cas publicat en relació a l' ús d' aquest dispositiu en l' embolització d' un shunt mesocava que afecta la vena mesentèrica superior. |
