The Reclau Caves, which form part of the Serinyà Prehistoric Caves Park (Pla de l’Estany, Girona), are shelters formed by waterfall travertines which have been in turn affected by karstification phenomena. Though relatively small, these cavities were big enough to held human occupation. Its evolution has seen the falling of blocks and infilling of terrigenous materials. Thus, the caves were completely filled and had most of their original roofs fallen. The first excavations of these caves were made in the mid 1940s and they continued, albeit with some interruptions, until present times. The caves were occupied by humans since the late Middle Pleistocene until the Holocene. Hence, the main occupation periods can be attributed to the Middle Paleolithic and Upper Paleolithic cultures. Given the existence of these sites, the project of an archeological park was started and its first phase opened to the public in the summer of 1997. The creation of this park has led to the protection of the three main caves of the site (Arbreda, Mollet and Reclau Viver Caves). The caves have also been adapted and singposted to open them to the public. Other facilities of the park include a reception building and an activity area. The caves can be visited in guided tours which include the projection of a film, the visit to the permanent exhibition room, the three main caves and the participation in some prehistoric-related activities

Las cuevas del Reclau, ubicadas dentro del actual Parc de les Coves Prehistòriques de Serinyà (Pla de l’Estany, Girona), son abrigos formados por la precipitación de travertinos de cascada afectados por fenómenos de karstificación. Estas cavidades, aunque modestas, fueron en su inicio de proporciones suficientes para facilitar la sucesiva ocupación humana. En su evolución, sufrieron además caídas de bloques y rellenos de sedimentos terrígenos. Así han llegado a nuestros días prácticamente colmatadas en su totalidad y con gran parte de sus cubiertas originales caídas. A mediados de la década de los 40 del siglo XX se iniciaron las excavaciones arqueológicas de sus rellenos, las cuales, con algunas interrupciones, han continuado hasta la actualidad. Las cuevas fueron ocupadas por los humanos desde finales del Pleistoceno Medio hasta el Holoceno. Las etapas principales de ocupación correspondieron a las culturas del Paleolítico Medio y del Paleolítico Superior. Dada la existencia de estos yacimientos singulares, se está llevando a cabo en el lugar un proyecto de parque arqueológico, que se abrió al público, en su primera fase, el verano de 1997. De esta manera, se han protegido y adaptado a su visita las tres cuevas principales (Arbreda, Mollet, Reclau Viver) y se han acondicionado sus accesos. Igualmente se ha construido un edificio de recepción y un área de actividades. Actualmente se ofrecen visitas programadas y concertadas, que incluyen la proyección de un audiovisual, la visita de una sala de exposición permanente un recorrido guiado por las tres cuevas y la participación en actividades prehistóricas
